Talk Title:
Dr. David Loughrey is a Portfolio Manager in the ARC Hub for Therapeutics, where he liaises closely with University College Dublin (UCD) researchers to support the development and progression of innovative therapeutic projects. He obtained his PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, which had a focus on RNA structural biology and next-generation sequencing platforms, and holds a B.E. degree from UCD, where he won the National University of Ireland Pierce Malone Scholarship in Engineering, the Carthy Graduate Research Project Award, and the Helsinn EGA Gold Medal.
Dr. Loughrey brings extensive research and leadership experience from academia with a strong track record of supporting the development of next-generation therapeutics, in particular RNA nanomedicines, having worked with leading institutions including Emory University School of Medicine, Georgia Institute of Technology, and The University of Texas at Austin. His expertise centres on integrating next-generation sequencing technologies into advanced high-throughput drug discovery platforms and preclinical animal use in drug development. Through his role at the ARC Hub, Dr. Loughrey helps connect researchers, technologies, and translational opportunities across the therapeutic innovation ecosystem.
