The Irish Society for Gene and Cell Therapy (ISGCT)
With breakthroughs in gene and cell therapy moving from the lab to the clinic faster than ever before, 2025 is an exciting time to establish the Irish Society for Gene and Cell Therapy. Strategic investments in research funding and biotech infrastructure have made Ireland well-positioned to engage in cutting-edge scientific and translational research and ensure our scientists and clinicians can advance this wave of innovation. ISGCT will unite researchers, clinicians, industry and patients, fostering critical cross-sector partnerships. With its focus on providing conference, education and networking opportunities, ISGCT will help to train the next generation of Irish talent and will support the development of leaders in this transformative field. By accelerating translation from bench to bedside, Ireland can bring advanced therapies to those in need more quickly and equitably.
Our Vision
We envision an Ireland recognised globally as a leader in the development, clinical translation, and equitable delivery of advanced therapies – where innovative science becomes real-world solutions that transform patient lives.
Our Mission
We aim to:
-
Promote excellence in gene and cell therapy research and clinical application across Ireland.
-
Nurture the next generation of scientific talent through education, mentorship, and experiential training.
-
Support the translation of research discoveries into safe and effective therapies.
-
Advocate for policy frameworks that enable streamlined clinical trials and manufacturing, especially in early-phase academic‑led studies.
